Claude has let me catch up on a dozen tiny projects, all involving small devices and LED/LCD screens. My desk the other evening looked like this …

Over the years I’ve accumulated a range of Raspberry Pis and Picos, some random sensors and various displays. With Claude - and admittedly, with a bit more free time now the kids have moved out - I can actually chase down those projects and get them running.
So on that desk you can see:
- a big 16x16 with one of my generated Aliens, and a smaller Raspberry Pi / SenseHat just to the right, and a tiny Pico display beyond that.
- another Raspberry Pi / SenseHat that has a flip/fluid simulation running, inspired by this It’s a bit clunky and very hard to photograph. I’m sort of angling to eventually build something like this
- my weather display:
It’s a Pico W talking to OpenWeatherMap and gives me three display screens:

The next 24 hours:

The week:

- two pairs of eyes - one an LCD, one an LED. They just look around and blink, but look really cool.

- Conway’s Game of Life, once more.

- and (currently in green) a little display telling me how many minutes it is until the next bus (or train) to get to work …

Not shown, I also have a little eInk display reporting on the latest sighting hearing from my BirdNET project.
